Curriculum Post # 2: Science

Good afternoon,

Students:

As you know, we have been discussing the human body in science class over the past couple of weeks. I have found a great resource for you all that will help you to review the cell parts and functions. There are many other resources on this site, but I thought that this one was the most helpful! Feel free to explore this website on your own and bring your findings to class on Wednesday! Click here to check it out!

Parents:

This week we are focusing on reviewing our knowledge of the cell and cell parts before moving on and discussing more advanced topics concerning the human body. The activity that I have posted above focuses on the science curriculum strand: Understanding Life Systems (Cells)  and covers the following specific expectations:

3.1 demonstrate an understanding of the postulates of the cell theory
3.2 identify structures and organelles in cells, including the nucleus, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplasts, vacuole, mitochondria, and cytoplasm, and explain the basic functions of each
3.3 compare the structure and function of plant and animal cells

Feel free to check out the website with the students and encourage them to explore the website as well. The website does not contain any advertisements or inappropriate content so it should be safe for the students to look through. The link is posted above.

Have an excellent rest of the afternoon!

Miss Johnson
